The same route can be used to submit requests for inaccessible information, or regarding any complaints about the failure to ensure accessibility.

Accessible page

Navigating without a mouse

The site can only be navigated using a keyboard. Pages are based on a header structure, which allows the user to navigate the site swiftly. Filters, calendars, forms, and other functionalities, are built according to standards, and are accessible using the keyboard. People who do not use a mouse can navigate the pages without any problems. At the beginning of each home page, we have placed links – shortcuts leading to:

content,

service search engine,

news,

contact,

declaration of availability.

On other subpages we placed shortcuts leading to:

navigation,

content,

service footer.

Our pages should be able to significantly enlarge the font with available browser tools.

Documents

There are many files available for download on the IBD Library pages. Most of them come from external institutions. It may happen that not all files are fully accessible, e.g. they may lack headers or alternative descriptions for tables and graphics.

However, if a scan is placed on the site, we also publish an alternative version of the scan.

Alternative descriptions for graphics and photos

Remember to add alternative descriptions to graphics and photos that present relevant information. In addition, buttons and form fields are properly labeled.

Page zoom

Web browsers allow you to zoom in on pages using keyboard shortcuts or settings. This is especially helpful for people with visual impairments. If you want to learn how to easily zoom in or out on the screen, please go to this page: Enlarging and Reducing Pages in Windows.

Contrast

The color contrast of content elements has a ratio of text to background brightness of at least 4.5 to 1.

Videos

We add subtitles and a description of the full content of the video in a separate file.

Content comprehensibility and readability

We make every effort to ensure that our content is understandable, and the way in which it is presented improves the readability of the materials, and helps in the reception of information. We divide long texts into paragraphs and use highlighting. Quotes and important information are properly highlighted.

Ensuring website accessibility is a process

We do our best to ensure the accessibility of our sites, but if you find errors, have comments, or want to help us improve IBD sites, please contact us at the following email address: it@nencki.edu.pl

Procedure

Anyone has the right to make a request to ensure the digital accessibility of a website, mobile application, or some element thereof. You can also request that the information be made available in alternative forms, for example, reading a digitally inaccessible document, describing the content of a film without audio description, etc. The request should include the person making the request, an indication of which website or mobile application is being requested, and a means of contact. If the requester wishes to receive the information in an alternative form, they should also specify the form of the information.

The public entity shall comply with the request immediately, but no later than within 7 days. If it is not possible to meet this deadline, the public entity shall immediately inform when the request can be fulfilled, but this deadline cannot be longer than 2 months. If accessibility is not possible, the public body may propose an alternative means of accessing the information.

If an entity refuses to comply with a request to provide accessibility or alternative access to information, you can file a complaint against such action.

After all possibilities have been exhausted, the complaint can also be sent to the Ombudsman.

Architectural accessibility

The IBD building, located in Warsaw at 3 Pasteur Street, has been adapted for use by persons with disabilities through:

appropriate signage,

removal of architectural barriers,

removal of communication barriers,

Enabling access to the Institute’s premises for people with disabilities,

applying ergonomic solutions.

In particular, the following measures have been implemented:

The entrance door to the building from 3 Pasteur Street is marked to serve people with disabilities.

In front of the Institute’s building, parking spaces for people with disabilities have been marked in blue.

Contrasting architectural elements were used by distinguishing the reception desk and the application log.
