The Nencki Institute’s Science Picnic and the naming of the library after Prof. Leszek Kuźnicki

On June 19, 2026, the Nencki Institute’s Science Picnic was held on the grounds of the Institute of Experimental Biology. The program included an awards ceremony for science outreach and a lecture by Prof. Michael Wallach (University of Technology Sydney) titled Medical Research Translation and Commercialization in Academia is Both Exciting & Highly Rewarding.

An opening reception was also held for an exhibition dedicated to Prof. Leszek Kuźnicki (curated by Prof. Adam Szewczyk), during which Prof. Jacek Kuźnicki spoke about his father. Prof. Jacek Kuźnicki, presented the Director, Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyń, with a copy of Prof. Leszek Kuźnicki’s book Autobiografia : w kręgu nauki, bearing a special dedication.

This was followed by a ceremony to name the Institute’s library after Prof. Leszek Kuźnicki. The ceremony was attended by the Professor’s large family, as well as the administration and staff of the Nencki Institute.

The Science Picnic concluded with a social gathering in the Institute’s courtyard.
